Please read the following notices and disclosures, as they may affect your application for insurance.
Fully Earned Premium Notice
The premium for your Event Liability and Event Cancellation insurance policies is fully earned upfront upon payment. This means that the entire premium amount is due at the time of purchase and, except in specific circumstances outlined below, is non-refundable once the policy is issued.
If the insurance company cancels your policy for any reason, the full premium will be returned to you. However, if you, as the insured, choose to cancel the policy after it has been issued, all premiums are fully earned by the company, and no refund will be provided.
In the event that your event is canceled or postponed for a valid reason covered under the Event Cancellation policy, your claim may cover the costs associated with the Event Liability premium, but the Event Cancellation premium remains non-refundable.
Should your policy require changes, the premium you have already paid will apply as a credit toward the revised policy. If the policy revisions result in a decrease in premium, the difference will be refunded to you.
Please be aware that these terms may not apply in all states due to specific state regulations. We recommend checking with us to confirm how these policies apply in your state.
Known Circumstances Notice
In applying for this policy, you represent that there are no known circumstances at the time of purchase that might reasonably give rise to a claim. This means you are not aware of any situation or condition that could lead to the cancellation, postponement, or alteration of your event.
Please be aware that we will not pay for any loss resulting directly or indirectly from any circumstance known to you at the date of issue that could reasonably be expected to lead to a claim. This applies even if you purchase Change of Heart coverage. Known circumstances are not covered under any part of the policy.
If you are aware of any such circumstances, please disclose them to us prior to purchasing the policy so we can assess your coverage needs appropriately.
COVID-19 and Communicable Disease Notice
Please be advised that our Event Cancellation policy contains specific exclusions related to COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. While we do provide coverage if you or key individuals fall ill, we do not cover cancellations or postponements resulting from event venue closures by government order due to a communicable disease.
We will not pay for any loss resulting directly or indirectly from actual or alleged exposure to, transmission of, or contraction of any communicable disease. This exclusion applies even if the cancellation or postponement is due to fear or threat of such exposure, transmission, or contraction. Additionally, losses caused by any governmental order or directive prohibiting or limiting gatherings due to a communicable disease outbreak, epidemic, or pandemic are not covered. This includes situations where the event venue is closed directly or indirectly because of exposure to a communicable disease, even if the closure is voluntary.
However, this exclusion does not apply if a qualified medical physician determines that a communicable disease entirely prevents you, the honoree, immediate family members, or an active participant from appearing or continuing to appear in the event. The illness must first occur during the policy period, be the sole and direct cause of the necessary cancellation or postponement, and happen before any guidance or advice is issued by public, local, national, or international authorities to prevent, control, suppress, or respond to that communicable disease.
Known circumstances related to communicable diseases are not covered under any part of the policy.
Due to specific state regulations, this policy provision may not apply in all states. We recommend checking with us to confirm how this applies in your state.

Overview Of Rates and Rules for Coverage
We use information about you, your event, and your insurance coverage to decide whether to insure you and how much you’ll pay for event insurance. We get this information from you and from other third parties, namely your reception venue. All of this information is linked to “factors” that affect how much you’ll pay for insurance, or how we “rate” you as an insurance risk. These factors are described below. These factors are not simply surcharges; some factors provide discounts that reduce your premium.
Factors Relating to Special Event Liability Insurance
The following factors influence your premium for special event liability insurance:
- Insured Limit – The each occurrence and general aggregate limits selected affects the overall rate. There is a surcharge for limits over $1M each occurrence and $2M general aggregate.
- Liquor Liability – Our standard policy provides coverage for host liquor liability.
- Optional Coverages – Your venue may require a subrogation waiver or primary non-contributory wording. These will be pre-selected in your application for coverage. There is a surcharge to add these coverage options.
- Medical Payments – This is no fault coverage that pays medical bills stemming from accidents. Medical payments is not included with our standard policy. You may select this coverage for an additional charge.
- Attendee Count – There is a surcharge if the attendee count is over 500.
- Affinity Discount – There is a credit if you are referred to us by one of our affinity partners. (Ask your venue or wedding planner if they are part of the BriteCo program.)
- Multi-Policy Discount – There is a credit if you purchase both liability and cancellation coverage simultaneously.
Factors Relating to Special Event Cancellation Insurance
- Insured Limit – The insured limit should reflect your overall cost of the event. The marginal rate for coverage decreases at the total limit increases.
- Change of Heart — This optional coverage will reimburse you 75% of non-refundable wedding expenses for a covered change of heart, including a qualifying breakup. There is a surcharge related to this coverage. There are some limitations mentioned in the above notices.
- Affinity Discount – There is a credit if you are referred to us by one of our affinity partners. (Ask your venue or wedding planner if they are part of the BriteCo program.)
- Multi-Policy Discount – There is a credit if you purchase both liability and cancellation coverage simultaneously.
